DC Entertainment Essential Graphic Novels and Chronology 2013

943638_10151565198958485_685022619_nThis is a nice little treat from DC comics.  I have always been looking for an accurate chronology for Superman and Batman.  I found a decent one online a few years ago, but it is now out dated.  This goes into other books that do not have a place in the heroes chronology.  The bad thing, this will change in the next couple of months, I just hope this is a yearly publication.

Inside the book it list the 25 Essential DC graphic novels and it is a good list.  I actually counted and of the 25 I own 13 on the list and the best part of the list, I am planning on buying a few I have not even thought about picking up.  Follow that, it goes into the New 52, calling it “the place to start”.  This shows most of the available graphic novels that have been released since DC pulled the newest format, the mostly unpopular format.

The next part is one of the coolest, it starts with a super hero, like Batman and shows the best of the best for each character.  It breaks this down by the biggest characters, Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and then the Justice League.  There is a great section call Women of DC Comics with a lot of great books mixed in.  There are other things that follow, Vertigo books, Alan Moore, Grant Morrison and DC Kids.

Finally you get the reading order and it gets down to business and gives you a cut and dry list of where to start with each hero.  Listed in chronological order or well a suggested reading order along with the writer and artist with listed price.  Of course they could not just list every single graphic novel, but I know for Batman they left out some really good stories.

If you are looking to get back into comics or looking to start following a new hero, pick this up.  It should still be available at your local comic books shop and it was free.
