Good Bye Christopher Lee

What a life, what a career in acting.  This man was not only an amazing actor who has over 280 acting credits to his career.  He also fought in World War II.  In the special features on the Lord of the Rings and he talked about being stabbed in the back and how it should sound, which makes me wonder how many people he may have stabbed in the back.  Was Christopher Lee a British assassin?  That may be, but he is also Dracula. May the 4th Be With You!

maxresdefault (1)Today is Star Wars day, what are you doing today?  Well, I have thought about different things to do today.  Star Wars has always been a big part of my life, I love it very much.  I have seen the films so many times, I could never add the amount of times.  I have read many books, of which are no longer canon of course and when Dark Horse got the rights to the comics, I was full force in on the comics.  If you say my trade paper back collection says is all, I am missing very few.  But, what am I going to do for this special day.  How about explain my failure with Star Wars. Star Wars the Force Awakens and So have I

2000px-Star_Wars_Logo.svgThe new Star Wars the Force Awakens trailer hit today and with the simple words, “Chewie, we’re home.”  I felt like I was at home and I was in tears.  I have watched the trailer, nearing 10 times and it hits me every time.  Without a question Han Solo is my favorite Star Wars character, he is my hero.  As a kid there was one guy I always wanted to be like, Han Solo, or maybe Harrison Ford, I love Indy too.  But seeing Harrison Ford come back to Star Wars, it is a life long dream, I have always wanted to see this happen.  For so many years, he said he’d never play the character that made him a star again.  This always bothered me, but I am so happy he is back, even if for one film.  Maybe the offered him the on screen death he requested for Return of the Jedi.  So to this, I am excited. Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi

Return_of_the_jedi_oldThis if the final review of the Star Wars films and it has been a great time looking back on what could be my favorite film series of all time.  Of course, we are finally in the year when we will get a new Star Wars film, 2015.  I hate that it is coming in December when all the other films were released in May, not to mention all around my birthday. Now, I have to wait for, damn near Christmas, argh!

Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace

Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones

Star War Episode III- Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope

Star Wars Epidode V – The Empire Strikes Back

This year we are going to finally see the follow up to the original trilogy with Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens.  I am pretty excited and over the past couple of weeks, I have watched and now I am reviewing the Star Wars saga.

This came out my third birthday and from what my mom had told me, I was there with her.  It is hard to imagine seeing any Star Wars film for the first time after growing up with them.  I feel lucky and but at the same time, I wish I could go in from Episode I and see them all in order all over again. Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back

Star-Wars-The-Empire-Strikes-Back-1980-Style-A-by-Roger-KastelThe Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars film.

We finally got through the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars Saga and it seemed like it took forever.  Finally it is time to celebrate the Original Trilogy and its greatness.  You can check out the prequel trilogy posts below.

Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace

Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones

Star War Episode III- Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope

This year we are going to finally see the follow up to the original trilogy with Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens.  I am pretty excited and over the past couple of weeks, I have watched and now I am reviewing the Star Wars saga.

When I was younger, this was my least favorite of the three Star Wars films, let me finish.  It was the most available at the time and then came Return of the Jedi and I watched the last two so much.  I always wanted to watch Star Wars, A New Hope and it was pretty much my favorite for a long time.  That was before I realized how amazing the story was in Empire Strikes Back.  You see as a kid you do not watch movies for the story.  But sometime in the early 1990s the films were on tv and I watched them all back to back and it had been years.  I saw the story unfold as if I had never seen the series before.  It was amazing!  Everything made more sense to me and cleared up a lot of questions I had growing up, I felt, oh so good.  It was only then, I realized Empire was my favorite by far and I found how much I loved Han Solo and Obi Wan. Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope

star_wars_ver2This film shares a birthday with me, although Star Wars was released in 1977, I was born in 1980 on the same day, May 25th.  Oddly enough, four days after the Empire Strikes Back was released.

This year we are going to finally see the follow up to the original trilogy with Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens.  I am pretty excited and over the past couple of weeks, I have watched and now I am reviewing the Star Wars saga.

I have never had the chance to talk about the original films.  I hold them so close to my heart, growing up through the 1980s I think most of us were shown Star Wars.  I mean the films were known as Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.  Now it is Episode IV or A New Hope or both for that matter.  Either way or whatever way, it is Star Wars.

As we all know, Star Wars picks up 19 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith or 28 years before.  Luke Skywalker is just a farm boy and the Empire has captured Princess Leia.  Eventually we meet the rest of the gang, Obi wan Kenobi, Han Solo and Chewbacca.  The go after Princess Leia to rescue her for the rebellion.  But, Darth Vader and the Death Star stands in their way. Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

MV5BNTc4MTc3NTQ5OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTg0NjI4NA@@._V1_SX640_SY720_Of the prequels, this is the best by far.  I have already gone through Episode I: the Phantom Menace and Episode II: Attack of the Clones and here we are at the finale in the prequel trilogy.  Which, I fear will be over shadowed by the sequel trilogy that starts December 2015.

As I said before, Recently I have renewed my love affair with Star Wars and well it have had something to do with trailer for the new film, Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens.  Even if it will be close to 90 years after the Phantom Menace, I wanted to go back and watch Star Wars.  But this time around, I would have my best buddy, me son watch them with me.  So we started at the beginning of the series, well chronologically anyway.  He is 5 and has of course seen Star Wars and is a big fan of the animated series, the Clone Wars and even bigger fan of the Lego games.  So here I am, in full on Star Wars mode and I feel like we need a review of the Star Wars series and why not one year before The Force Awakens.

Revenge of the Sith takes place 3 years after Attack of the Clones and picks up right after an animated series called the Clone Wars left off.  Palpatine has been kidnapped by the Seperatists.  Obi wan and Anakin come to his rescue and fight and kill Count Dooku and eventually we meet General Grievous, who like Jango Fett and Darth Maul before, is a throw away villain, which is a theme in the prequel films. Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones

star_wars_episode_two_attack_of_the_clones_ver2Last time I talked about the first prequel of the the second Star Wars trilogy, The Phantom Menace.  Now we move on to Episode II, yeah you know Attack of the Clones.

This one is set 10 years after The Phantom Menace and just before the beginning of the Clone Wars.  That was enough, well, know it is a Star Wars movie was enough.  But as a kid, I wanted to know more and see more of the Clone Wars.  In A New Hope, Obi wan speaks in short about the Clone Wars.  Growing up I always wanted to see what he was talking about.  So going into Attack of the Clones, I was more than excited.  Continue reading “Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones”

Rayzor’s Retro Review – Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace

star_wars_episode_one_the_phantom_menace_ver2I am the resident Star Wars fan here at Nightfall Unlimited.  Recently I have renewed my love affair with Star Wars and well it have had something to do with trailer for the new film, Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

Set 30 years before Episode IV, A New Hope, the film picks up during a trade dispute between the Trade Federation and the planet Naboo.  The Jedi come to negotiate from the Republic and all kinds of fun happens.  We meet the Queen, Amidala and two Jedi, including Obi wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn.  Eventually the Jedi help the Queen to escape Naboo and they head to the capitol of the galaxy, Coruscant.
